Dr. Yoshiaki Hayashi is currently an associate professor at Laboratory of Plant and Animal Science, Faculty of Agriculture, Meijo University. He graduated from Faculty of Applied Biological Science, Hiroshima University in 1994 and obtained his masters degree of animal science in Graduate School of Biosphere Science, Hiroshima University in 1996. He had a career as a member of the Japan Overseas Cooperation Volunteers (JOCV) in the Philippines from 1996 to 1998 and later served as a technical expert of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in Malawi from 2000 to 2002 for ruminant reproduction. He obtained his PhD in animal nutrition from Graduate School for International Development and Cooperation, Hiroshima University. The theme of his PhD thesis focused on feeding management on milk production of dairy buffalo and cattle in Nepal. His current research interests include the utilization of local resources as animal feed for improvement of functional properties of dairy products. Dr. Hayashi is now conducting researches on animal nutrition in Japan, the Philippines and Nepal. He is currently the secretary-general of Japanese Society of Goat Science (JSGS).
