AGE-RELATED DISABILITY AND TECHNOLOGY The main focus of this program is to sustain and restore functional capacity, to maximize older person�s social involvement and independence towards a better Quality of Life (QOL) among the elderly population. Emphasis is given on dementia and musculoskeletal disease, representing the two major cause of disability among the elderly. A combination of primary and secondary prevention approach towards disability will be used, while regenerative medicine to restore lost functional capacity is also undertaken. It also focuses on the tech environment research area which utilizes technology to improve the design of products, services, living and working spaces, to enable older people to remain active and maximize their functional capacity. This programme has the potential to develop patents and products for commercialization. The two work groups under this research programme are: i) Regenerative Medicine ii) Enabling Design and Assistive Technology
