Dr. Sansak Nakavisut graduated from the Faculty of Agriculture majoring in Animal Science from Khon Kaen University, Thailand, in 1986. He started his career as a government official in 1987 in the position of Animal Scientist in the Department of Livestock Development and has been with the department up until now. In 1995 he moved to Perth, Australia for a Master's degree in Agriculture by research from the University of Western Australia where he gained his experience in molecular biology applied to animal production with a scholarship from AusAID. He took a study leave from his official work again from 2002 to 2006. He received the PhD degree in Animal Genetics and Breeding from the University of New England, Armidale, NSW, Australia in 2006. Currently, He is a senior professional level of animal scientist responsible for swine and small ruminants breeding research and development in the Department of Livestock Development, Ministry of Agriculture and cooperatives, Thailand. He has developed herd recording programs for sheep and goat farms as well as established a national genetic evaluation system for swine and small ruminants using BLUP technology.
