The Laboratory of Halal Policy and Management, Halal Products Research Institute, UPM, is one of the leading centres for research in the field of halal policy and management. It focuses on research activities that relate to the development of law, policy, management and marketing of halal products. Thus, issues like fatwa, halal slaughtering, halal governance, enforcement, product liability, quality and safety, consumerism, marketing and business development are some of the research areas that are being focused in the Laboratory.Besides, the Laboratory also aims at developing Islamic Quality System (IQS), which include the Haram Analysis Control Point (HaCCP), Halal Manufacturing Practices (HMP) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP). As one of the leading centres for research, the Laboratory also serves as a consultation body for both the industry as well as the national halal authorities.
