Researches within the program are conducted to seek and develop alternative therapies from natural sources among the enormous biodiversity of Malaysia. The program is also involved in the development of innovative therapies using recombinant proteins and antibodies and drug delivery systems using nano particles. Research activities under the program involve most stages of development of new therapies to include identification, characterization, in vitro and in vivo studies, formulation and product development, using current research tools like PCR, ‘microarray’ and ‘nano particles sizer and zeta potential system’. Ultimately the developed products are intended for commercialization.
