ABOUT US

DEPARTMENT OF CIVIL ENGINEERING, UNIVERSITI PUTRA MALAYSIA (UPM)

The Department of Civil Engineering was established in 1985 after taking its first undergraduate students for the Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) programme in 1984. Since then, the Department has progressed tremendously in the three core services: teaching, research and professional services. There are 28 academicians in the main civil engineering areas namely Structural Engineering and Project Management, Geotechnical and Geological Engineering, Water Resources Engineering, Highway and Transportation Engineering, and GIS and Remote Sensing. In addition, there are 16 support staffs consisting of engineer, research officer, assistant engineers and administrators facilitating the department.

UPM-BENTLEY BIM ADVANCEMENT LAB

The UPM-Bentley BIM Advancement Lab is dedicated to digital construction and BIM. This lab, managed by the Department of Civil Engineering UPM and powered by Bentley Systems International Limited, hosts more than 50 BIM and Civil Engineering related software, and is the first certified training partner for Bentley in Malaysia Public University.

 

UPM-Bentley BIM Advancement Lab provides trainings on Bentley’s BIM and Civil Engineering related software to students, staffs and local construction industry practitioners. While the trainings for students will ensure market ready graduates, the trainings for practitioners will ensure that the industry can fully reap the benefits of BIM through full utilization of BIM technologies. The trainings provided are closely monitored by Bentley’s experts around the world to ensure the quality of the trainings. Through this lab, the Department of Civil Engineering UPM is providing international quality trainings, at a fraction of the price. With more and more BIM-enabled persons trained up, BIM will in time become one of the core skills of our construction industry participants.
