Professor Shinichi Kobayashi is the head of Department of Animal Science and Resources, College of Bioresource Sciences, Nihon University, Japan. He graduated from the National Utsunomiya University in Animal Science in 1974 and finished his Master course in Agricultural Economics in 1976. He moved to National Nagoya University for PhD in 1976 and studied at the University of Sydney from 1978 to 1980 as a part of his PhD. He obtained his PhD degree from National Nagoya University in 1986. After working at the National Federation of Agricultural Co-operatives for seven years, he researched at Australian National University from 1987 to 1989 having a scholarship from the Australian Government. He started his career at Nihon University in 1989. His major is agricultural economics and policies especially in the field of livestock industries. Professor Kobayashi has edited and authored more than 20 books and 200 publications in journals, proceedings and etc. including a book 'Sustainable Development of Livestock Farming in Japan'. He is the president of Japanese Association of Livestock Economics and Farm Management, the secretary of APGA (Asian Partnership for Goat Affairs), Japan and a member of the steering committee of the 14th Goat Summit, Japan which was held in Kanagawa Prefecture, 7th October 2012.
